Live-Fire Catering

“Crafting a once-in-a-lifetime meal for a once-in-a-lifetime occasion”

Rambler crafts memorable, lasting experiences through both public culinary events and bespoke private events. Utilizing live-fire cooking with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients from our partnering farms, we cook everything solely using wood with the oldest cooking techniques and traditions.

The Rambler Difference

Founded in 2017, Rambler offers a one-of-a-kind and innovative approach to the traditional catering options. Based in Nashville, TN, our unique concept and mobile kitchen allow us to travel anywhere to light our fires and provide an elevated dining experience.

Our menus are crafted using locally sourced ingredients with an emphasis on thoughtful, refined cuisine. Our meals are cooked fresh, on-site, using our custom equipment – solely using wood & coals with the oldest cooking techniques and traditions, it’s a difference you can see, smell, and taste.

We have conceptualized, designed, and built each piece of our wood burning cooking equipment. All of our custom pieces sit on raised “fire bases” to not disturb any type of ground we are working on.

If you enjoy elevated, thoughtful cuisine, appreciate fresh and seasonal ingredients from local farms, and are interested in a truly one of a kind, immersive dining experience, we would be a great match!

Guest Experience

Years of experience, paired with extensive culinary backgrounds, have led us to specialize in outdoor, open-fire cooking, and we want to share that with you and your guests.

Imagine as your guests arrive they see the smoke, hear the crackle of the fires, smell fresh meats and vegetables roasting over the coals, observe the chefs preparing the meal before them, and witness a unique concept that adds something special to every event.

An experience you won’t forget, we welcome you and your guests to watch us cook, ask questions, and learn about new ingredients and cooking methods.

Due to the unique nature of our open-fire cooking concept, we are able to arrive, set up, and cook on site; with no need for additional utilities or infrastructure. We can light our fires for large weddings and gatherings, or small intimate backyard dinners. Our flexibility is what allows us to work with all different types and styles of events - we need nothing extra and can travel wherever the wind takes us.

Client Experience

We love working with clients to craft a once-in-a-lifetime meal for a once-in-a-lifetime occasion. Typically, our clients have hand-picked people and elements to perfectly represent a specific vision - from the ambiance & vibe, to the colors, venue, and flowers. We want to make sure the meal aligns with the overall experience.

When you choose to work with Rambler, we ensure you are our top priority — we only take a limited number of private events per year, allowing our team to put our sole focus on each event or wedding we cater.

Local, Seasonal, Sustainable

We believe you should never have to settle for “catering food.” Our elevated seasonal menus are crafted to feature the highest quality ingredients available, and we work with local farmers to ensure we’re supporting the community and highlighting their hard work.

Always conscious of our environment and the footprint we leave, we utilize eco-friendly practices including using plant-based soaps and cleaning products at our event sites, ensuring minimal food waste, and composting whenever possible.

We offer two different wood-fired service options: family-style dining and a seasonal buffet spread. The former allows for sharing and brings people together, and the latter offers a more casual approach.

 Seasonal Menus

We create a set menu for each season, allowing us to fine tune and perfect the meal for every event. Extensive thought and planning goes into our menus, and allows us to showcase what is in season and at its best. In addition to our seasonal menu, we also create a custom, signature dish for each event.

What Our Clients Say

  • If you are looking for someone who takes great care, executes with the utmost professionalism, and will create the most incredible meal experience based on the ethos of your event, hire Rambler. Even before we decided to host our wedding on our farm, we knew food was a top priority. Being self-proclaimed foodies and avid home cooks, we knew we wanted to serve an unforgettable meal for our champagne hour and field dinner. Plus, we knew we needed someone who was able to adapt to special circumstances (off-grid, remote area, and uncertain weather) plus our desire to create an unmatched experience for our guests. We wanted our guests to feel like they were part of the food journey and be closer to their food than they may typically be in a restaurant or event setting. Our guests loved being able to interact with Rambler as they prepared our meal, creating an interactive atmosphere rarely experienced at events. There’s something really special about having a multi-sensory experience. Being out in the middle of a field already creates a “fresh air” atmosphere, but layer that with live-fire cooking and you take the sensory experience to another level.

  • Patrick and the Rambler Events team were amazing to work with! We heard nothing but incredible feedback from our guests not only on how delicious the food was but also how cool of an experience it was to see how they cooked everything! We are so appreciative of the dietary options they provided for us and our guests as it isn't always easy to find a team to cook for 200+ with gluten free and dairy free options that taste as good as it did! Truly, it is hard to put into words how grateful we are but we will be recommending Rambler Events to every single person we know as they truly are the best!

  • Patrick and his team at Rambler Events went above and beyond to help create and add to our experience of a surprise 50th Bday party I had for my wife. From the beginning of menu planning to sourcing local ingredients, set up, open fire cooking, to finishing the night off and packing up in pouring rain. Patrick and his team prepared and presented a seamless evening. The food was amazing, the experience was amazing, and his staff were excellent. Rambler pulled off a magical evening and I would recommend far and wide to use their service and expertise if you are looking for this type of cooking for your event. Looking forward to booking Rambler events, Patrick and his team again in the future.

  • We hired Patrick and his team at Rambler events for our wedding across the country in Sedona, AZ and were completely blown away by our experience with them! As a couple, we really wanted an elevated South American cuisine that was really tough to find in the local wedding caterers. When our planner recommended Rambler events, they were able to exceed our expectations in every way possible. They offered to travel across country to Sedona (huge kudos to them!!), their menu was spectacular (and tasted even more incredible than we imagined), Patrick and his team were incredibly responsive through the planning process, and his team were attentive, friendly and just honestly a pleasure to have a part of our big day. Honestly, if you are reading this far, just do it... book them. I promise they will exceed all your expectations! They sure did for us!

  • Rambler! Cannot recommend the Rambler crew enough. Patrick and team are thoughtful down to every detail. Not only was the food fresh and local, but they incorporated everything they could directly from our venue for the wedding that they could. From start to finish the process of working with Rambler was seamless, easy, and under control. Not only was the food amazing but they provided top class service. The kind of service you hope and dream you’ll be able to get at every restaurant you go to but they do it better. To reiterate, the thing I remember most about Rambler (other than the delicious food) is the thought that went into every detail. It’s not your typical “behind the scenes” service and we loved having them as a key part of our wedding. Rambler should be your go to event catering crew!

  • My husband and I had the pleasure of having Patrick and his lovely team cater our wedding. Our dream was to have a garden party inspired wedding filled with entertainment and the food was one of the top priorities for us. We received so many compliments that the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding. We are hopeful to host more events with Patrick and his team. We cannot recommend their service and food enough. It was spectacular! Thank you again!

  • Rambler Events catered our wedding and truly made it an unforgettable experience! The food was INCREDIBLE and the staff were so professional and friendly. Can not recommend them enough. From start to finish, every detail was thought through. My husband and I could really sit back and enjoy dinner knowing their team was handling everything else with ease. The best part of dinner was the food. Not only did it look awesome, but it tasted amazing. Can’t wait to go to future public dinners hosted by Rambler!

  • My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Rambler on our wedding day. Being such foodies, we knew we wanted something different than the usual wedding caterer. Rambler provides a service unlike any other we’ve come across. Not only are all of their ingredients fresh and locally sourced (not to mention melt in your mouth delicious), but they go the extra mile in preparing and cooking everything over open wood fires in front of your guests! We honestly couldn’t speak more highly of Patrick and his incredible team. All night long both our guests and vendors came up to us to let us know they’ve never had such amazing food at a wedding. If you want something interactive while also being some of the best food you will ever have in your life- Rambler is the absolute best choice!

Schedule a call with us so we can meet and discuss the details of your event.

1

Once we have all the details, we will put together your proposal.

2

Once a proposal is approved, we will send over your catering contract and a link to pay a 20% deposit. Once we have both, we will officially block the date(s) and secure our services!

3

We will then split the remainder of the balance into multiple payments leading up to your event day.

4

Between the booking and event day, we are always available for questions, advice, or anything you may need leading up to your event.

 FAQs

  • We suggest allowing around 90 minutes for a seated meal.

  • Depending on the size of the event, we typically need to arrive at the property 4-5 hours before the start of any food-service to set up all our equipment, light our fires, and start cooking. For larger events, it’s always easier for us to set up the day before if possible.

  • Yes! We always do our best to accommodate any dietary restrictions and always come prepared for any surprise common dietary needs.

  • Due to our unique concept and hyper-seasonal cooking, we handle tastings a bit differently. We treat tastings the same as we would a private in-home dinner party. Depending on the location and number of guests attending the tasting, we would invoice appropriately for the "dinner party".

Please note: we only schedule tastings Monday through Wednesday.

  • Yes, we do! While our forte is outdoor open-fire, we do occasionally work with indoor venues and those that do not allow cooking on premises. Please feel free to contact us if you have a vision in mind that is different from our standard offerings.

  • Not at all! All of our wood burning equipment sits on custom elevated fire bases. We leave the properties where we work exactly the way they were when we arrived.

  • All the time! Due to our unique concept, we have the ability to travel anywhere to perform our services.

  • Travel fees are assessed on a per event basis. Out of state events and events further than 3 hours from Nashville will require lodging.

  • Our services are rain/snow or shine! We supply tents that we work under in the case of precipitation. We have cooked in storms (lost a few tents), floods, snow, and in 100+ degree heat. We are always prepared for whatever mother nature throws our way.

Are you looking for something with a few less bells and whistles? Are you hosting an event at a venue that doesn’t allow open-fire cooking? Check our our sister company Studded Onion!
